# FloatSolar

> FloatSolar designs and manufactures floating solar (FPV) racking and mounting structures in the United States. The company is channel-only: it sells wholesale to solar distributors, online solar retailers, EPCs and installers, and marine, dock and pond dealers, who resell and install the systems. FloatSolar does not install, does not bid projects, and never quotes a reseller's customer. Gen3 structure kits support 560W to 710W modules and are sold as structure kits, with panels, inverters and wiring supplied separately.

## What we make

FloatSolar manufactures the Gen3 floating solar structure kit in six configurations: three array sizes (5 kW, 10 kW and 20 kW) in two electrical configurations (single-phase on 560W modules, three-phase on 640W modules).

Each Gen3 kit includes the marine-grade floats, the rails, the module mounting hardware, the inverter mounts and the grounding. Panels, inverters, wiring and shore cable are not included. That is a deliberate decision: module and inverter pricing is volatile and moves independently of structural hardware, so bundling them would force a dealer to buy electrical components at a price fixed months earlier. Selling the structure separately lets the dealer source panels and inverters at current market pricing and keep the margin. FloatSolar publishes a recommended-components page so a dealer or installer can match compatible balance-of-system parts to a kit.

Gen3 structures support solar modules from 560W to 710W. Higher-wattage module support means fewer panels and fewer mounting points are needed to reach a given system capacity, which reduces installation labour and hardware count.

## Pricing

Structure-kit MSRP, United States, in US dollars. These prices cover the structure kit only and do not include panels, inverters, wiring or shore cable.

Dealer net pricing is not published. It is released to a dealer with an approved dealer application. FloatSolar maintains a minimum advertised price (MAP) policy so that an approved dealer's margin is protected and FloatSolar does not undercut its own channel.

## Who we sell to

FloatSolar sells wholesale to solar distributors, online solar retailers, EPCs and installers, marine, dock and aeration dealers, pond and lake management contractors, golf course and agricultural suppliers, water and wastewater utilities, and irrigation districts.

FloatSolar does not sell direct to end users, does not perform installation, and does not bid projects. When an end-user enquiry arrives, it is routed to a dealer rather than quoted directly.

## Permitting and jurisdiction

Whether a floating solar array needs a federal permit depends on the water body, not on the product.

In *Sackett v. EPA*, 598 U.S. 651 (2023), the Supreme Court narrowed the definition of "waters of the United States" to relatively permanent standing or continuously flowing water bodies connected to traditional navigable waters, plus wetlands with a continuous surface connection to such a water body. As a result, a privately owned, isolated retention pond, process pond, irrigation pond or quarry lake is frequently non-jurisdictional, meaning no Clean Water Act Section 404 permit and no Rivers and Harbors Act Section 10 permit applies. That is what can remove 18 to 24 months from a project timeline. This status is site-specific, state-dependent, and the applicable rule is still in flux, so it must be confirmed for the individual water body rather than assumed.

Permits that still apply even on a non-jurisdictional pond:

- Local building permit
- Local electrical permit
- Utility interconnection agreement, with NEC Article 690 compliance
- State submerged-lands and environmental resource permits, where the water body is state-owned or state-regulated
- USACE Section 408 review, where the project affects a federal civil works project
- FERC licensing, where the water body is part of a licensed hydroelectric project
- NEPA review, where there is a federal nexus such as federal funding or federal land

FloatSolar's primary call to action is a free jurisdictional pre-screen: a written assessment of whether a specific water body is likely to be jurisdictional, provided before the customer commits money to the project.

## Made in USA and BABA

FloatSolar structures are manufactured in the United States and built to support Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements, which matters for federally funded, municipal and utility projects where domestic-content documentation is a condition of the award. Domestic manufacturing also shortens lead times relative to imported racking and removes exposure to import tariffs and ocean freight schedules. Domestic content can also be relevant to the domestic content bonus credit and to Section 45X considerations, which a project's own tax advisor should evaluate.

## Storm protocol

FloatSolar's storm protocol describes design intent, reviewed per site, not a guaranteed outcome. The approach has two parts: quick-disconnect shore connections using Hubbell twist-lock connectors, so the electrical tie to shore can be broken without cutting or rewiring; and independent platform anchoring, so the array is restrained by its own anchoring system rather than by the shore connection. FloatSolar does not publish a securing time and does not represent any insurance outcome. Structural and site-specific requirements are reviewed case by case.

## Dealer program

FloatSolar operates a formal dealer and reseller program. No other floating solar mount manufacturer selling into the United States operates a public dealer program.

Volume bands are 2–4 kits per year, 5–9 kits per year, 10–24 kits per year, and 25+ kits per year for stocking distributors. Dealer net pricing for each band is released with an approved dealer application and is not published.

Kits can be dropshipped directly to the job site or stocked in the dealer's own warehouse.

Channel-neutrality commitment: FloatSolar does not install, does not bid projects, and does not quote a reseller's customer. A dealer can forward a FloatSolar specification page to their own customer without risk of the manufacturer competing for that sale.
